What is a krewe?
A krewe is a Carnival organization with its own members, traditions and events. Krewes arrange their parades; the city permits and regulates them and coordinates public services. Some hold walking parades or other celebrations. Membership requirements vary. “Super krewe” describes a large krewe, with no single rider-count cutoff.
Plan your outing
- Find the parade by its name in the calendar. A krewe may also hold balls and other events that are separate from the street parade.
- Contact the organization directly about joining or marching. Membership arrangements vary.
