When to arrive and how long to stay
For popular parades, especially the second weekend, aim to arrive a couple of hours early. For planning, allow roughly an hour to an hour and a half for one procession to pass your block. Gaps and back-to-back parades can make it a longer outing. The calendar’s start time is when the parade sets off; it reaches your block later.
Plan your outing
- Departure time is useful for planning, but it is not a block-arrival prediction. A spot farther along the route sees the parade later.
- Allow extra time for walking, finding a restroom and multiple parades on the same day. Use Routewise for progress once the parade is underway.
